#thisweekiam Post No.1

Jules at Procrasticraft has been posting weekly about the events in her quilty/home/travel life.  It’s a lovely practice so I’m jumping in!

This week I am…

Honoring.. the service of U.S. women service members by making a quilt.

Patriotic stash 6-23 1 Patriotic quilt pattern

My Sarasota Modern Quilt Guild was introduced to a wonderful initiative by Linda F. The Southwest Florida chapter of the Blue Moms is holding a retreat for wounded women veterans.

They asked for twin size quilts for the women attending the retreat.  My Guild is having a sew day next month to collaborate on a quilt, and some of us are also making individual quilts.  I’m starting mine today.  And, I’m donating some backing fabric and quilting thread as well.

Sewing My Stash…I’m making  the patriotic quilt from fabric in my stash.  This is my 2015 commitment to do as much sewing as possible from my stash.  It’s helpful to remind myself because there is soooo much wonderful new fabric out there.

Pattern writing…

Pattern hand notes 1

Working on a new pattern–well, actually, I’m working on three different ones  off and on.  Taking my time to make sure I get each one as accurate as possible for the quilters who honor me by buying my patterns.  Thanks to EQ7  and Inkscape for making this possible!  I could not do it without these two programs.
