2016 Modern Quilt Workshops in Orlando

Due to book writing and other commitments, instead of running a Florida retreat, I will be teaching two modern quilt workshops at World Quilt Florida, January 7-8, 2016.

This is a wonderful event with many special quilt exhibits including a modern quilt exhibit by the South Florida Modern Quilt Guild.  I hope you will join me at this event.

Here’s what I’ll be teaching:

Disappearing Fractured 9 Patch

We will explore different ways of taking a 9 Patch block and slicing it up and inserting strips to create a totally different improvisational block.  Also, I’ll show you how to add pieced curves to this design for even more interest! When you leave, you’ll be well on your way to completing your top and I’ll also give you a plan for a coordinating pieced back.  This workshop is suitable for confident beginners and experienced quilters.

In the workshop, we’ll add angles with varying widths and pieced curves to the blocks…the beat goes on!!  I’ll show you an easy technique for pieced curves that will build your confidence!!

Scrappy Improvisational Quilt: Stash Buster and Orphan Block Project

Grab those wonderful scraps you’ve been saving and join us for some fast paced fun! We’ll create improv blocks from the scraps and then combine them with solid blocks in a modern quilt design for the top AND the back.

When you leave, you’ll be well on your way to completing a modern quilt top and coordinating pieced back.  This workshop is suitable for confident beginners and experienced quilters.
